CARE INSTRUCTIONS – Caring for Bandhini Products

Our exclusive products are unique in that they are handcrafted and dyed with vegetable dyes. Rarely are 2 pieces identical. This village industry product which is made from either natural fibres such as silk, cottons and rayon, can have non-uniform colours and vary slightly. Some are delicately hand-beaded and serve only as feature cushions. We believe that these characteristics make our product more evocative and luxurious. To preserve them and get the most from your Bandhini piece we recommend dry-cleaning. Hand-wash Dupion silks with leather edge. Commercial wash only for cotton quilts.

Spilled on a cushion or quilt?

Here are some tips on what you should or certainly shouldn’t do

TO DO

- Remove the stain as soon as it is noticed
- Remove the dirty excess before cleaning
- Use cleaning compounds at lukewarm temperature
- Use modest amounts of cleaning solution
- Treat every stain different. For specific stains and removal suggestions, have a look at quilt history’s website

NOT TO DO

- Rub, brush or scrape the stain using force
- Put it in the washing machine – Shrinkage or colouring might occur
- Apply cleaners directly to the stain
- Saturate the spot with cleaners
- Ignore the stain or leave it until later
- Apply heat to the stain in any way : Avoid machine drying or ironing
